Three people were shot before dawn on Saturday at a sprawling apartment complex in Kissimmee, with one victim left in critical condition, according to authorities. Kissimmee police officers responded to the 2100 block of Grande Court after a report of shots fired and found the three victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
According to FOX 35 Orlando, officials say two of the three victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries while the third remains in critical condition. All three were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The station reports that detectives remained on scene actively investigating the circumstances of the shooting, though no suspect description or motive has been released.
The block sits within the Grande Court Apartments at Boggy Creek, a 394-unit, multi-building complex built in 2003 near Boggy Creek Road in Osceola County, according to RentCafe. Despite the scale of the shooting, officials say the incident appears to be isolated, with no ongoing threat to the public.
Investigation Still Wide Open
Kissimmee Police Department has not identified any suspects or explained what led to the gunfire, and the investigation remains active. The station's report does not indicate whether the victims knew each other or whether the shooting stemmed from a dispute, leaving the motive an open question for now.
The Grande Court shooting is the latest in a string of early-morning gun violence incidents across Kissimmee's residential areas this year. In July, Hoodline reported that a Marta Circle shooting tied to a domestic dispute triggered an aggravated battery investigation, and that same street had already seen separate fatal shootings in 2024 and earlier this year. Kissimmee has also seen violence at multi-family complexes before; one person was killed in an early-morning shooting at the city's Heron Lakes Apartments in May.
A Department Under New Leadership
The shooting comes as Kissimmee Police Department operates under Chief Charles “Chuck” Broadway, who was sworn in as the department's 35th chief on April 1, 2025, after 12 years as police chief in Clermont and a stint as an FDLE special agent supervisor, according to the City of Kissimmee. Broadway's administration has pushed operational changes aimed at freeing up patrol officers for violent and emergency calls.
Among those changes, the department launched a digital non-emergency reporting portal in November 2025 that lets residents file minor offenses online rather than tying up dispatchers, according to the City of Kissimmee. The system is designed to route property crimes and other non-violent reports away from road units so officers stay available for calls like the one that sent them to Grande Court.
What Florida Law Could Mean for Suspects
If suspects are eventually identified and charged, Florida law lays out significant exposure. Under Florida Statute 784.045, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon is a second-degree felony carrying up to 15 years in state prison, up to 15 years of probation, and fines as high as $15,000, according to Hanlon Law.
Separately, Florida's 10-20-Life statute imposes a mandatory minimum of 20 years in prison for discharging a firearm during a felony, a term that can escalate to 25 years to life if the shooting causes great bodily harm, per Sercombe Law. Those enhancements would apply automatically upon conviction, though no arrests have been announced in the Grande Court case.
Kissimmee has logged several other violent, gun-related incidents in recent months, including a July altercation on Marcos Circle in which an Osceola County Sheriff's deputy shot a man during a mental health crisis call, and a January triple shooting near an Indian Point Drive vacation rental that killed three out-of-state tourists. For now, Kissimmee police say the Grande Court shooting appears to be an isolated incident, but they have released no further details on victims, suspects, or motive as the investigation continues.
