Two Mesa teenagers are facing serious ramifications following their indictment on arson charges, as confirmed by Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. Daniel Traynor, 18, and Eliyzar Frias, 19, allegedly caused an explosion at a Mesa residence, placing the homeowner in harm's way and inflicted extensive property damage.

On a quiet street near Guadalupe Road and Arizona Avenue on June 13th, the charged individuals are accused of leaving an explosive device at someone's front door. The device detonated just as the homeowner, having been alerted by his security system, approached the door. As reported by the County Attorney's Office, he believed he had been shot following the explosion, which shattered multiple windows, including one directly above his head.

"Regardless of someone’s age, these destructive and potentially deadly acts will not be tolerated," Mitchell stated after detailing the gravity of the events. On June 26, the indictment against Traynor and Frias included one count each of Arson of an Occupied Structure, Aggravated Assault, Depositing Explosives, and Criminal Damage, alongside one count of Disorderly Conduct.

Both teens currently remain in custody, each held on a $100,000 secured appearance bond. Until proven guilty, being merely charged, the defendants are presumed innocent. They are awaiting to face the charges that are rooted in choices bringing consequences that can reshape their young lives and ripple through their community.
