
The Metropolitan Police Department is currently probing a fatal shooting incident that took place in Fort Dupont Park, as was reported on their official website. On the afternoon of July 13, police were called to the scene near the 3300 block of Fort Dupont Drive, Southeast, responding to reports of an unconscious individual.
Once at the location, a female victim was discovered by officers of the Sixth District, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the arrival of DC Fire and EMS, the victim showed no life signs and was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene, as the MPD stated.
The victim has since been identified by authorities as 21-year-old Ambria Farmer of District Heights, MD. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are currently under investigation, and the police have not released any further information regarding potential suspects or motives behind the tragic event.
The police are asking anyone with information related to the homicide to come forward and are seeking the public's assistance in this ongoing investigation.
