Licon's resilience shines as she continues to fight through the aftermath of the assault that inflicted burns to 30% of her body. According to Hawaii News Now, her recent surgery aims to painstakingly reconstruct facial features damaged by the acid, which caused her nostril to painfully collapse and her upper lip and nose to fuse together. She expressed gratitude for the donors on her GoFundMe, who have offered both financial aid and encouraging messages, helping her to slowly move forward.
The attack, which occurred outside a 24-hour Fitness center in Mililani, was the heinous act of Paul Cameron, who now faces second-degree attempted murder charges. He stands accused not only of the attack on Licon but also for a separate murder-for-hire plot. Cameron allegedly convinced a fellow inmate to carry out another acid attack at Ala Moana to create a diversion from his involvement in Licon's case.
