Milton's Mayor and Councilmembers are poised to discuss the city's future, both financially and infrastructurally, at the upcoming July 8 council meeting, according to the city's official website. On the agenda is everything from the long-term revenue projections to EV charging station safety requirements, reflecting the local government's proactive approach to community planning and safety.
With safety in mind, particularly regarding new technologies, the council will also look at potentially requiring fire blankets at certain EV charging stations. Addressing the concerns about lithium-ion battery fires, the amendment, if passed, would mean that "all new and existing EV charging stations located in public, private, or commercial parking facilities have a vehicle fire blanket," reported by the City of Milton. They would not be required for charging stations in single-family residences.
Beyond considerations of the future, the council will reflect on past success as they recognize a national award-winning grassroots marketing campaign that promoted Milton's 2023 municipal election. The novel marketing efforts, spearheaded by local volunteers and city staff, utilized various communication platforms to ensure voter awareness and participation. In recognition of these efforts, Milton received an accolade from the National Association of Government Communicators.
Looking to fiscal management, the Deputy City Manager will advise on the City's revenue forecast, providing crucial insight into the anticipated money flow that underpins both current and future projects. The revenue forecast will help shape decisions about important initiatives, such as infrastructure improvements and community development programs. The council's resolution to submit a revised list of roadways for state approval as part of efforts to lower local speed limits illustrates such endeavors aimed at enhancing safety on Milton roads.
The meeting, open to public attendance, will begin at 6 p.m. at City Hall, but for those who can't attend in person, the meeting will be broadcast online on Milton's official YouTube channel. The full agenda is available on the city's website, providing residents a snapshot of the pressing issues and developmental strides under consideration for the city of Milton.
