To accommodate Minneapolis voters ahead of the primary election, the Early Vote Center has announced extended operating hours, the City of Minneapolis revealed in a recent announcement. Prospective voters who are eligible to participate in the Minneapolis electoral process have now the chance to cast their votes early at the center located at 980 Hennepin Ave. E, furnishing them with an ample window before election day to execute their civic duty.
Starting from July 29 to August 2, the doors to democratic participation will be thrown wide from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and for those who find the weekdays constricting, the weekends of Aug 3 and 4, as well as Aug 10 and 11, offer solace with hours spanning from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., while the final push before the primary day sees August 5 through August 8 echoing the weekday schedule, and a special extension on Friday, August 9, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., August 12 will have hours from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., allowing for that last-minute surge of democratic engagement.
Furthermore, the City encourages those who have received a mail-in ballot but have not yet returned it to deliver their ballots in person after August 6 to avoid delays that could render their vote null due to late delivery. Ballots can be dropped off during regular business hours at either Minneapolis Election & Voter Services, located at the same address as the Early Vote Center, or the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 Sixth St. S.; on Election Day, however, which falls on August 13, completed mail ballots will be accepted only until 8 p.m.
The Minneapolis Elections & Voter Services Division has also issued some recommendations to streamline the voting process: checking the status of one’s registration at the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website and looking over a sample ballot in advance are among those suggestions, the full gamut of which can be found on their website, an essential resource for those looking to educate themselves before stepping into the voting booth and those are crucial steps that voters can follow to save time.
As Primary Election Day draws nearer, voters are reminded to verify their polling place locations, a search made convenient by the pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us tool, and this year's election administrating office further elucidates that such preemptive measures not only expedite the voting process for the individual but supports the smooth conduct of the day's proceedings for all involved.
