Attention, green-thumbed citizens of Minneapolis, your city calls on you to shape the verdant future of North Mississippi Regional Park. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is on the hunt for dedicated individuals to join a Community Advisory Committee (CAC), which will play a pivotal role in the evolution of the park's next two decades-plus of life, according to Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board.
The call to action doesn't just seek passive members, but active voices ready to engage in a series of meetings, contributing an estimated 35-45 hours over 18 months, helping to steer the park's stewardship, as per the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board. For those itching to make their mark, the North Mississippi CAC Application awaits your input, but be swift—the deadline is August 2. After this date, all applications will be reviewed by MPRB Commissioners, and a Selection Committee, the latter comprising community group figures and MPRB staff to nominate candidates for the Commission's final nod of approval.
MPRB Commissioners will select nine of the 17 seats on the CAC, while the Selection Committee will recommend the remaining eight, with these hopefuls all subject to an official vote of approval. If you're considering becoming part of the park's future, brace for a notification on the outcome in September or October. As for the first CAC meeting, the leaves may start to turn in the fall, but the ideas will just be beginning to blossom. Interested applicants are encouraged to share their innovative thoughts by participating in a current online survey.
