A Minneapolis teenager has died following a shooting earlier this month; officials are still piecing together the events of the night that led to her death, as well as how a second victim is related to the case. According to a bulletin from the Minneapolis Police Department, officers responded to an alert from ShotSpotter and reports of a shooting near Dowling Av N/Fremont Av N on July 7th, where they found a 17-year-old girl in a vehicle with critical injuries.
The officers gave medical care until the teen could be transported to North Memorial Health, but despite their efforts, she succumbed to her wounds in the hospital five days later. The fatally wounded girl sat in a vehicle that was parked in the parking lot when the gunfire erupted; her name and the cause of her death have since been released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, while a 30-year-old man with gunshot wounds related to the same incident checked himself into the same hospital later that evening, arriving via a private vehicle.
Minneapolis Police Forensic Division's forensic scientists were on the scene to collect evidence, and the area was canvassed in an attempt to secure more information. Meanwhile, investigators are actively seeking to understand the sequence of events that led to the tragic occurrence and the connection between the two victims, while there have been no arrests thus far, the police encourage anyone with information to come forward.
