Warren Elliot, the missing "jeeper" whose disappearance sparked a multi-day search operation, has been found near Hell Hole Reservoir. The 70-year-old was located in the rugged terrain of the Sierra Nevada, west of Lake Tahoe, where he had been missing since Friday while on a trail maintenance trip with fellow off-roaders preparing for the upcoming Jeep Jamboree, as reported by FOX40.
Details surrounding Elliot's condition are not fully disclosed, but he will be transported via helicopter to a designated landing area and then on to an area hospital for further evaluation, the Foresthill Fire Protection District communicated, search efforts that involved hundreds of participants from various search and rescue teams across the region faced the daunting challenge offered by the remote and difficult to navigate landscape, employing Blackhawk helicopters provided by the California and Nevada Army National Guard, off-road vehicles, and K9 units in an extensive effort to locate Elliot.
Elliot, a resident of Placer County, was last seen by members of his group on the popular Rubicon Trail, a notorious track for off-roading enthusiasts but a challenging environment for those on foot, the Placer County Sheriff's Office, who are among the nine agencies involved, described him as a "Jeeper, not a hiker," reinforcing that he had gone missing while walking away from his son's jeep during a stop along the trail, according to additional background information provided by CBS News Sacramento.
