A violent altercation on the basketball courts at Natrona Park in Natrona Heights left three people with stab wounds this past Saturday evening. Reports from Harrison Township Police indicated they responded to a call at around 7:27 p.m. about a fight at the park's basketball courts. The incident ensued after a conflict over a missing wallet, leading to a physical confrontation where Terrell Travon Ellis, 33, is accused of attacking the individuals, according to WPXI.
Upon arrival, officers found three injured people at a nearby residence. The victims, a 21-year-old man from Euclid, Ohio, an 18-year-old from Tarentum, and a juvenile from Baltimore, as per TribLIVE, managed to escape after sustaining cuts and stab wounds before ultimately being attended to by medics. Ellis allegedly confronted the trio after a game, demanding they empty their pockets under the belief that his wallet was stolen. What began as an argument quickly seemed to thoroughly escalate into a violent clash.
In a statement according to TribLIVE, Harrison Township Police Chief Brian Turack confirmed the victims were taken to local hospitals whose conditions were undisclosed. Following the incident, Ellis was taken into custody on Sunday after attempting to leave the area. He faced a subsequent evaluation at Allegheny General Hospital before being transported to Allegheny County Jail. The apprehension occurred at the corner of Federal Street and River Avenue, Turack noted.
Ellis is currently facing multiple charges, including six counts of aggravated assault and three simple assault charges. Officers located a four-inch blade in a porta potty at the park, which the police believe to have been used in the assault. "The totality of the circumstances, matching statements from the victims and video evidence led them to charge Ellis," as per WPXI.
