Nicholas "Nick" Kato steps into the role previously held by Jamison Rogers, who recently joined the Philadelphia Sheriff's Office. According to the agency, Rogers was praised for setting a "high standard," during his tenure at CPOC, a legacy that is now Kato's to continue, as per the City of Philadelphia.
In a move signaling both transition and continuity, CPOC has expressed excitement about the experience Kato brings to the table. A seasoned investigator, Kato's background includes a stint as a staff investigator for the Defender Association in Seattle and work with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project. His time uncovering the truth for those claiming wrongful convictions has been a prelude to his role at CPOC, where, "since joining CPOC, Kato has overseen several police shootings and is actively working to expand the Investigation Unit’s investigation program." These efforts, spearheaded by his predecessor, reflect a dedication to upholding justice within the Philadelphia community, as per the City of Philadelphia.
