A tragic incident occurred on the evening of July 8, where gunfire rang out on Long Beach Boulevard, resulting in multiple casualties and a subsequent investigation by local authorities. The Long Beach Police Department reports that at approximately 9:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 4900 block of Long Beach Boulevard in response to reports of a shooting. On arrival, they found three male victims, one of whom was pronounced dead at the scene, a second victim treated on-site, and the third transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The shooter was still at large following the incident, prompting a thorough investigation by homicide detectives.
In a separate instance of proactive policing, Long Beach officers were able to remove illicit firearms and drugs from the streets. The LBPD detailed their successful intervention, which took place earlier that same day, July 8, at approximately 12:29 p.m. near the intersection of 14th Street and San Francisco Avenue. During the incident, officers took into their possession both a firearm and a replica, along with narcotics. The suspect, whose possession of the firearms violated legal restrictions, was promptly arrested with a more detailed investigation currently underway.
The LBPD's busy day continued into the afternoon, with a second response to a firearms-related call at around 2:11 p.m. The call brought them to the 6000 block of Long Beach Boulevard, where yet another prohibited possessor was arrested after officers recovered a firearm, as per the LBPD. This marked the second arrest of the day on illegal possession of a weapon.
