The Orlando district is reaching for new heights, literally, as the Packing District is to become home to a new cutting-edge climbing facility. The development, a tangible climb towards redefining the recreational landscape of Orlando, entered the construction phase earlier this month. High Point Climbing & Fitness has started retrofitting a nearly 40-year-old warehouse into a 45,000-square-foot climbing gym at 1978 Stanhome Way, just off Orange Blossom Trail, as reported by the WFTV.
Owned by Dr. Phillips Charities, a known community builder in the area, the warehouse on the property will be transformed into an adventurer's haven. With a 55-foot rope climbing section and Florida's singular competition speed wall, as noted by Bungalower, it promises to redefine the way locals and tourists alike engage with indoor athleticism.
Alongside the towering climbing walls, the gym is set to feature a substantial bouldering and training zone. Aiming not only to appeal to hardcore climbing aficionados, the development includes a 4,000 square foot 'Kid Zone' designed to foster a love of climbing in younger generations with its specialty climbing elements. This blend of offerings serves to cement High Point Climbing & Fitness Gym's reputation as a premier family-friendly and competitive climber destination.
It is expected that this extensive reimagining of a once-dormant warehouse space will not only promote healthier lifestyles but also serve as an attraction to fuel economic and cultural growth in Orlando’s Packing District. Destined to be a hive of activity, this climbing gym stands to add yet another layer to the already dynamic $700 million neighborhood. Anticipation builds as High Point Orlando is slated to open its doors in the Spring of 2025, immersing participants in a world of vertical challenges as they ascend new peaks of recreational enjoyment, according to Bungalower.
