Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) is taking steps towards a greener future with the debut of its new Clean Energy Tracker, now live for all your digital browsing at PWPweb.com/CleanEnergyTracker. This move comes as part of the city's push, spurred by Resolution 9977, to shift Pasadena's electric grid to 100% carbon-free sources by the cusp of the next decade, as reported by the City of Pasadena.

Back when the Pasadena City Council came together on January 30, 2023, they unveiled this green vision with Resolution 9977, PWP has taken up the gauntlet running with it in its 2023 Power Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) and they're not shy about aiming high – they're looking to beat California's own clean energy milestones by a good 15 years. “PWP is committed to reaching ambitious carbon-free energy goals while continuing to provide reliable power at competitive rates,” Interim General Manager David Reyes said, as stated by the City of Pasadena.

In its maiden iteration, the tracker zeroes in on the benchmarks laid out by Senate Bill 100 and detailed in Resolution 9977, it will grow in phases, merging even more data points and insights into the picture, from local electric vehicle uptake to distributed energy resources and they're not just keeping this to themselves.
