Yesterday evening, just before 10 p.m., a pedestrian was struck and killed on Bissonnet Street in Houston, sparking a police investigation into the circumstances that led to his untimely demise. According to the City of Houston's official news release, the incident occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. near 7400 Bissonnet Street. The name of the deceased male has not yet been released pending identification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The investigation, handled by the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, is following up on the initial report which details a Nissan Altima striking a male pedestrian who was, at the time, crossing the street. After the incident, the driver responsible did not stop to render aid and left the scene. Returned to the crash scene, Eric Davis, a 55-year-old male, later identified as the driver, was brought into custody and has been charged with driving while intoxicated.
It was a family member of the suspect, having contacted the authorities, whom reported the crash. With this unorthodox turn of events, the investigation is delving deeper into the nuances of the case. Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer S. Bouarar of the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division are the leading officers mentioned in the report. Charged in Harris County Criminal Court #11, Davis's legal predicaments have only just begun.
