
The streets of Long Beach became the backdrop of tragedy earlier this month, as the ongoing investigation into a fatal traffic collision on July 20 has now confirmed the death of a pedestrian. According to the Long Beach Police Department, a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and succumbed to her injuries ten days later.
It was around the early morning hours at 5:21 a.m. when officers were dispatched to the scene at the intersection of 7th Street and Stanley Avenue, where a pedestrian and a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee collided, resulting in critical injuries for the pedestrian subsequently identified as 33-year-old Johnisha Brown of Long Beach, the incident, not prompted by speed, distracted, or impaired driving, the driver of the Jeep, a 50-year-old resident of the area, cooperated with law enforcement at the scene, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department.
Announced by the police department on July 30, the notification of Brown's death has prompted further appeals to the public for information, detectives Kevin Johansen and Efrain Pineda leading the call for witnesses, anyone with knowledge of the event is encouraged to step forward, the contact methods include direct calls or the option to remain anonymous through various tip services, such as "LA Crime Stoppers."
