
A tragic traffic collision occurred last Friday evening, taking the life of a Penngrove man. Steven Michael Campanali, 57, died following a high-speed motorcycle crash on Highway 1, South of Snake Road. Marin County Sheriff's Office reports that around 6:17 PM, Campanali was riding a 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 heading northbound when he inadvertently crossed the southbound lane and collided with a 2001 GMC 3500 Sierra HD pickup truck.
The force of the collision was such that Campanali was ejected from his motorcycle, sustaining severe injuries. Despite rapid response from First Responders, he was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:30 PM. The cause of the accident is not immediately clear and is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol – Marin Office alongside the Coroner Division of the Marin County Sheriff's Office.
Autopsy and toxicology reports are scheduled to be carried out later this week, which will help in determining the precise cause and manner of death. During this difficult period, the Sheriff's Office and the Coroner Division have extended their condolences to Campanali's family and friends. They have also stated that further details will only be released following the active and ongoing investigation.
