The Philadelphia Police Department has issued a public appeal for assistance in locating a missing juvenile, Jahzir Ford, who disappeared from his home earlier this week. According to a release posted on the Philadelphia Police Department's news blotter, the 13-year-old was last seen leaving his residence at the 5100 block of Baynton Street at approximately 5:30 pm on Friday, July 12, 2024.
Further details indicate that Jahzir was then spotted the following day in the vicinity of the 1200 block of Foulkrod Street. Standing 5’7” tall and weighing 160 lbs, Jahzir has brown eyes and black hair, and was last seen wearing a black shirt adorned with Halloween characters, black pants, and matching sneakers. Jahzir, who frequents the Frankford and Germantown areas, carries with him not only the physical characteristics described but also the urgent concern of a community that knows all too well the peril young ones face when set adrift in the vast urban tide.
The circumstances of Jahzir's departure are yet to be disclosed, and as the search continues, the police are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in the safe return of the missing youth. Often, it is the collective vigilance of individuals that leads to the uplift of those who slip through society’s cracks; in Jahzir's case, this same vigilance is called upon once again.
