A 16-year-old boy was tragically killed in a brutal shooting in Philadelphia's Oxford Circle neighborhood, police and local media report. According to FOX29, the incident occurred yesterday afternoon on the 1200 block of Van Kirk Street.

Responding to the incident at around 4:04 p.m., officers found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, as detailed CBS News Philadelphia. He was rushed to Jefferson Frankford Hospital following the shooting, where police say, the teen later succumbed to his injuries.

No weapon was recovered at the scene of the crime, and despite more than 50 shots being fired, no suspects have yet been arrested. Police are on the lookout for several individuals believed to be involved, armed with automatic weapons.

Surveillance video reportedly shows a macabre scene where at least two gunmen appear to stand over the collapsed teen, continuing to shoot him at close range. "So it appears to be an execution-type homicide since the shooters are seen on camera standing over the victim, and we also found multiple spent shell casings just inches away," 6ABC reports, quoting Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. The suspects were last observed escaping in a white sedan, the description of which is now part of an ongoing manhunt.

The name of the young victim has not been publicly disclosed as Philadelphia police continue to investigate this heinous crime. Anyone with information pertaining to the shooting is encouraged to contact authorities.
