The recovery of a man's body from Harris Lake in Pontiac yesterday has sparked an investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. At approximately 12:30 p.m., authorities were notified about the body in the water, prompting a response from the sheriff's department and other first responders to the area at Baldwin Rd. and Montcalm, according to Public Information Officer Steve Huber, as per WWJ Newsradio 950.
Early reports have identified the deceased as a 38-year-old Pontiac man, Fong Yang. The circumstances leading to Yang's presence in the water remain unclear, and an autopsy scheduled by the Oakland County Medical Examiner for today is expected to provide more details. The completion of toxicology tests, which are part of an investigation process that often spans six to eight weeks, will determine his cause and manner of death, as The Oakland Press reported.
Adding to the complexity of the case is the belief that the man might have been homeless, complicating the process of family notification. Steve Huber said, as cited by CBS News Detroit that their office was actively working to notify the family. At this stage, it remains uncertain whether Yang's entry into the lake was accidental or if foul play was a contributing factor.
