A house fire in Silverdale erupted last night, inflicting injuries on one civilian and a firefighter, with flames intense enough to prompt neighboring evacuations. According to KIRO 7, Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue teams reached the Northwest Cascade Street residence at about 12:08 a.m. today, where they encountered a fire of such size that precautionary measures were necessary for nearby homes.
All five residents of the affected home were evacuated, with one adult suffering serious burn injuries and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. Alongside the residents, flown to Harborview Medical Center, a firefighter, enduring non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale. Evacuated during the fire, neighbors in adjacent homes could only watch as firefighters battled the encroaching flames, as reported by FOX 13 Seattle.
The Kitsap County fire marshal is leading an investigation into the origins of the fire, which rendered the home a complete loss. By morning, fire crews remained stationed to keep a vigilant watch for any potential flare-ups that could reignite the calamity.
Officials stated that the firefighter's injuries were sustained in the line of duty, reflecting the relentless and perilous nature of fighting a residential blaze that threatened to spill over its confines. Further information regarding the condition of the burned individual or the specifics of the firefighter's injuries has not been disseminated at this time. Crews at the scene worked diligently to ensure the fire did not spread, remaining on-site throughout the morning to extinguish all remaining hot spots.
