
In a tragic incident in Rock Hill, a 15-year-old girl named Marlie Sullivan lost her life following a collision between a golf cart and a Honda CRV. The Rock Hill Police Department reported to the scene of the accident on Laurel Creek Drive shortly after 10 p.m. yesterday. According to WSOCTV, Sullivan was pronounced dead at the scene. She was a student set to enter her sophomore year at Rock Hill High School.
The police found that the golf cart was traveling north when it was struck by the Honda, which was incorrectly driving in the wrong lane. As a result of the collision, three other passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Piedmont Medical Center. "Three other riders were taken to Piedmont Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries," the Rock Hill Police Department stated, as obtained by WSOCTV. The golf cart reportedly had a total of six riders at the time of the incident.
An active and ongoing investigation into the accident has been initiated. WCCB Charlotte reported that the Honda involved was in the wrong lane when it collided with the golf cart. Authorities are yet to release the findings of Sullivan’s autopsy and toxicology reports. In light of this tragic event, Rock Hill High School has arranged for counselors and a mental health team to provide support to grieving students and staff beginning Monday.
Community members have expressed shock and sadness over the untimely passing of Sullivan, drawing attention to the innocent joyrides of youth being cut short by unforeseen calamities.
