Get ready for a weekend of laughs and mayhem as the Company of Rowlett Performers takes over the Plaza Theater with their latest production, "Krazy Kamp." Directed by none other than Adam Apple, the story unfolds in a shenanigan-filled summer camp where the boys of Camp John Smith, led by Apple and his sidekick Willard, find temporary refuge in the chic girls’ Camp Pocahontas, overseers by manager Eve Hunnicutt, according to the City of Garland.
The cross-camp escapades begin when Hunnicutt agrees to conceal the presence of Adam and his raucous crew from the camp’s oblivious owner, Mrs. Thistlemist, turning Pocahontas from a zen sanctuary into the epicenter of chaos as more wild characters drop in, including a mummy-like poison ivy victim, smooth-talking Elmer Crumb with his snake-charmer companion Cleopatra Nile, a hood by the name of Clams Marinara, and the flashy, ever-distrustful Dixie with a penchant for concealed firearms, not to mention the Mo Sisters who are, well, quite the celebrity trio in their unique sense.
Amidst this backdrop of hilarity, "Krazy Kamp" promises an entertaining farce bursting with character quirks, unexpected visitors, and a spiraling series of issues leading the once charming Camp Pocahontas to be deemed "unfit for habitation" by a state inspector. While the narrative weaves its comedic mayhem, the audience gets treated to a medley of songs from “A Real Job,” “Poison Ivy Blues,” and “Junk Food Junkie” to more serene hits like “Broadway Baby” and “My Buddy and Me,” sure to have showgoers humming along.
The proverbial curtains rise on this theatrical chaos with performances scheduled for Friday, July 18, 2025, at 7:30 PM, followed by another evening show on Saturday, and a matinee slot on Sunday, July 20. Ticket prices are kept accessible, with adults at $27, children three and over at $17, and a gracious nod to seniors 55+ at a reduced $22, all of this theatrical excitement is unfolding at the historical venue of Plaza Theater, located at 521 W State Street in Garland, TX – a spot that's seen its fair share of community gatherings and artful expression.
