
A brush fire ignited in Coyote Valley, the southern edge of San Jose, yesterday and rapidly covered an area estimated to be 35 acres before firefighting teams could contain the blaze, as per reports from the San José Fire Department.
Given the moniker the Teresa Fire, the inferno was detected around 12:21 PM near Santa Teresa Boulevard and Bailey Avenue. Despite firefighters' challenges, they declared it under control by 1:55 PM. The fire department's initial coverage underestimated the affected area by 10 acres, the revised figures placing it at 35 acres, according to the San José Fire Department.

As the fire raged, certain precautionary actions were taken, including the closure of Santa Teresa Boulevard in both traffic directions, from Bailey Avenue up to Bayliss Drive, and the evacuation of nearby Santa Teresa County Park and its trails. All these measures were made public by the San Jose Fire Department and further shared by NBC Bay Area.
