
Early this morning, San José Fire Department firefighters rushed to address a hazardous situation on McLaughlin Ave. near Story Rd., where a natural gas line had ruptured outside 7-Eleven. The precarious incident led to the evacuation of neighboring apartments and businesses as a precautionary measure, according to the San José Fire Department.
UPDATE: Incident declared under control at 9:45am. Ruptured line has been repaired and the business is being ventilated. Evacuated locations are being repopulated and traffic reopening.

The gas leak was reported just before the clock struck 7 a.m. at McLaughlin Ave. This prompted a swift response from both firefighters and PG&E crews, with the latter arriving promptly to evaluate and attend to the damaged line. The southbound lane of McLaughlin Ave. was closed to traffic at the intersection of Story Rd., with the northbound lane also experiencing disruptions, as relayed by the Fire Department.
After several tense hours, control of the situation was declared at 9:45 a.m., with the line effectively repaired and danger averted. SJFD's efforts shifted to airing out the affected convenience store and preparing for the safe return of the area's residents and merchants. "Evacuated locations are being repopulated and traffic reopening", the San José Fire Department conveyed at 10:10 a.m., signaling a return to normalcy for the local community.
