The event recalled the dramatic April 10 episode, where a squall of emergency personnel was deployed to assist Mr. John Ruehling suffering from what was swiftly understood to be a myocardial infarction. According to a Scott County press release, 911 Dispatcher Victoria Jones and Dispatch Supervisor Ashlee Sames were the initial contacts. They not only managed to promptly dispatch aid but also extended vital telephonic medical instructions. As the crisis on the ground escalated, Sheriff’s Sergeant Ken Dvorak along with Deputies Ted Kes and Paul Fordice, and a squad of New Prague’s finest in blue and red alike, converged to administer life-preserving aid.
Mr. Ruehling, initially conscious, soon succumbed to the gravity of his condition and lost consciousness. At this critical juncture, the sheriff's officers began CPR, a move followed by paramedics Jade Adams and Polly Greer's swift intervention. The ensemble of first responders, including Firefighter Ryan Schmitz, Lieutenant Brandon Anderson, and Officers Josh Walton and Emily Eastman, worked to seamlessly prolong Mr. Ruehling's fight for life until he could be airlifted to Abbott Hospital.
