Authorities are escalating their efforts to locate 83-year-old Patrick Bailey, who has been missing in Orlando since his Delta flight was canceled last Sunday. Bailey's travel disruptions began following a global tech outage caused by a CrowdStrike update that went awry, leading to his flight's cancellation at Orlando International Airport. According to ClickOrlando, Bailey had been checked into a local hotel and checked out the following morning, after which he vanished.
As reported by FOX 35 Orlando, Bailey was set to fly home to Oregon when the incident occurred. The search has been complicated due in part to Bailey having left his phone at the hotel he stayed in, hindering communication. Anastasia Quanbeck, Bailey's daughter, expressed her concern, saying, "I think he could be anywhere; he very well might still be in Orlando."
Bailey's whereabouts after he left the Doubletree Hotel remain unclear. Quanbeck revealed, "We've seen that he was on video checking out of the hotel, and then we have a receipt showing that he did take a shuttle or a cab, and so we're trying to go from there." His family has been unable to discern his subsequent movements, though they believe he may appear in airport footage on Monday, albeit there is no record of him rebooking his flight, as detailed by FOX 35 Orlando.
The family's concerns are heightened by reports that Bailey may not have been fully himself at the time of his disappearance. Descriptions from his family portray Bailey as a very independent individual. His absence has extended nearly a week with no bank transactions recorded since Monday, though the family is still waiting to access more detailed financial information.
Orlando police are urging anyone with information about Bailey's location to contact 911 immediately.
