A Cascade Township hotel room was pierced by the sound of gunfire on Monday evening, leading to a frantic search for the perpetrator who remains at large after three others were detained in relation to the incident. The Kent County Sheriff's Office confirmed that while nobody was hurt, the situation at the Red Roof Inn on 28th Street near I-96 sparked a prompt response at around 7 p.m., where they found one bullet casing and confiscated a firearm, as per FOX 17.
Amid the search for the triggerman, two individuals were detained on outstanding warrants while a third was picked up on unrelated charges, though their identity as the shooter in question is negated, authorities say there is no danger to the public at this time—a sentiment echoed in a statement obtained by WZZM 13, which clarified that the altercation appeared to be isolated to the involved parties.
Investigators continue to sift through evidence as they pursue the individual who discharged the gun, with the Kent County Sheriff's Office underscoring the gravity of such offenses, reporting more than 84 weapons-related offenses since the beginning of the year. Further details were shared by WWMT.
The Sheriff's Office is urging anyone with information to step forward and contact them directly at 616-632-6125 or, to relay information anonymously, individuals can call Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
