Seattle Police made an arrest on Capitol Hill, bringing in a federal fugitive last week, as reported by the SPD Blotter. On the morning of July 7, authorities responded to a scene where a man was found unconscious in his car. The location, 12th Avenue and East Pine Street, was the site of the arrest of a 39-year-old male now facing multiple charges.
The early morning disturbance turned to quickly reveal a firearm—a semi-automatic handgun—found in the possession of the slumbering suspect. Officers managed to safely secure the weapon and detain the man without incident. It didn't take long for them to uncover that he was not simply a dude catching up on sleep; he was wanted. A routine ID check showed the man had a warrant for his arrest, issued by the United States Marshals Service, because he allegedly failed to observe to the conditions of his parole linked to cocaine possession.
As detailed by the SPD Blotter, the man was arrested for the outstanding warrant and for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1st Degree. Following the arrest, the suspect was booked into King County Jail, with the United States Marshals Service promptly notified of the development.
The Gun Violence Reduction Unit has now been called to lead the investigation. Further details on the case are to be determined as the detectives delve to gather more evidence and information.
