The Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL) in Seattle recently announced that they are actively accepting applications for the Telehealth Services for Students & Youth Request for Information (RFI). As posted on DEEL’s official website, this RFI is part of an initiative to gather data on providing supportive telehealth care tailored to the mental well-being needs of Seattle's young students. The submission window for this RFI began on Wednesday, June 26 and will run through Wednesday, July 24. Interested telehealth service providers can access to apply on DEEL's website.
The RFI aims to solely collect information that could inform DEEL's process in crafting a potential Request for Proposal (RFP) for future telehealth programs. Emphasis is being placed on finding culturally relevant services which can be to specifically adapt and address the diverse background of the student population. DEEL clarified that the RFI is preliminary and "for information-gathering purposes only and does not constitute a formal solicitation or an obligation to issue a future RFP," according to the overview provided on their site.
Responses collected from the RFI will contribute towards evaluating the capacity of interested vendors and ensuring they align with the objectives established for the program. DEEL’s review process is focused on identifying prospective vendors who meet the laid out criteria and who are best suited to serve Seattle’s youth up to age 24 through telehealth services. The RFI is also an opportunity for providers to showcase their ability to offer tailored services that are sensitive to the cultural nuances of Seattle’s diverse student body.
While this RFI does not guarantee the development of an RFP, it represents an important step in understanding the available resources and infrastructures that could be utilized to support the mental health of Seattle's youth. This initiative highlights the city’s commitment to consider innovative solutions in addressing mental health among students effectively. As per DEEL's announcements, those who are interested in contributing to this exploratory phase have until July 24 to submit their information and join this valuable conversation.
