Yesterday early morning, a gas station in Sebastopol became the scene of an armed robbery, according to the local police department. The incident, shortly before 6 am, involved an individual who has yet to be identified due to their masked appearance. Clad in a neon-green coat and obscured by a ski-mask, the suspect is reported to have walked into the establishment located on the 1000 block of Gravenstein Highway South, calmly placing a handgun on the counter and demanding the clerk to hand over cash quickly.
The Sebastopol Police described the perpetrator as a male of unknown race, approximately 5'6" in stature, slender, with a likelihood of blue eyes. They further detailed that the suspect fled the scene southbound on Gravenstein Highway South aboard an electric scooter. Witnesses or others with potential insights have been encouraged to come forward. The Sebastopol Police Department released the information through their Facebook page, wherein they noted the complexity of identification given the compromised quality of the footage obtained.
Further details regarding the weapon were provided in an attempt to aid identification. The handgun displayed in the crime was "light-colored", and it was noted to possibly feature an extended magazine and a "switch" modification, which often entails an illegal conversion of a semi-automatic firearm into a fully automatic one. As the police continue to seek the public’s assistance, they underscore the importance of alerting them at (707) 729-4400 should anyone recognize an individual matching the suspect's description or the distinct features of the firearm.
