Montgomery County Police are currently piecing together the circumstances of a tragic incident that claimed the life of a pedestrian in Silver Spring this past weekend. The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is at the helm of the investigation into the collision that occurred on Saturday night.
According to official reports, at around 8:59 p.m., responders were called to University Boulevard East at Langley Drive, the site where 30-year-old Aman Abraham Gebreyesus was fatally struck by a vehicle. Gebreyesus, a resident of Silver Spring was crossing the eastbound lanes when a blue 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee collided with him. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the Jeep, whose identity has not been made public, did not flee the scene. Officials have not released any information regarding charges or citations at this time. The ongoing investigation by the CRU aims to unravel the full narrative that culminated in Gebreyesus's untimely death.
