Taylor, Texas, is slated to become the site of a new $175 million plant by Soulbrain TX LLC, a South Korean company and a key supplier for Samsung. As reported by KXAN, the facility will specialize in the production of phosphoric acid to serve Samsung’s semiconductor fabrication plant also located in Taylor. This development is part of an ongoing expansion of the tech industry in the area and is expected to deliver a significant economic impact.

The plant will be situated in East Taylor within the RCR Taylor Logistics Park at 201 FM-3349, Taylor, TX 76574, an area that is steadily forming into a hub for the tech sector. As mentioned by MySA, the construction is set to begin by January 1, 2025, with a completion target set no later than January 1, 2029. With this move, Soulbrain is poised to substantially increase its presence in the U.S. semiconductor market.

Fifty new jobs are expected to emerge as a direct result of this venture. Additionally, Soulbrain has committed to providing internship opportunities for local high school students and "to making an annual civic donation of $25,000" to the community, "creating an internship for local high school students and joining the Taylor Chamber of Commerce," according to the city.

Furthermore, Soulbrain's involvement signals a potentially more significant investment on the horizon, with contemplation of a second phase for the project, which could total $400 million. To encourage this expansion, the city of Taylor has agreed to extend a 25% tax abatement for 10 years for each phase of the project. "Adding Soulbrain to our community adds yet another diverse, international company that will expand our tax base and create new jobs for our citizens," Betty Day, the TEDC chairperson, said in a statement obtained by KXAN. The project has the potential to not only diversify the local economy but also to draw other tech companies to the region.

As the development progresses, its effects are anticipated to ripple through the local economy, providing a diversified tax base and solid job opportunities for the residents of Taylor. Ben White, president and CEO of the Taylor Economic Development Corporation, expressed optimism in an interview with MySA, stating, “It's a prime example of how Taylor is becoming an international hub for companies. Samsung obviously led the way, and there's many others to follow.” With major players like Samsung and Soulbrain making Taylor their choice for investment, the city's standing as a key player in the tech industry is to only strengthen in the years to come.
