Residents of St. Louis Park who missed out on the spring tree giveaway will get another shot this fall. According to the city bulletin, the Tree Trust has decided to prioritize those left empty-handed earlier this year. From August 7, those who didn't score a tree in the spring can register for a preference lottery on the Tree Trust's website.
The deadline, for visiting the birds during August who dream of nesting in a new tree, is August 19 to throw their hat in the ring, as per the City of St. Louis Park. Successful applicants will be notified via email the next day and will have the first crack at the sale starting at 8 a.m. on August 21. Interested parties have a tight window to sign up for the lottery, which could provide a greener canopy for many residents.
Following the priority sale for lottery winners, any remaining trees will become available to all residents and unsuccessful lottery participants. According to the city update, the broader community will have access to these trees starting August 29, also at 8 a.m., as detailed by the City of St. Louis Park.
