As we roll deep into the sizzle of summer, the City of St. Louis Park, in a flavorful collaboration with the St. Louis Park Rotary Club, is ready to generously doll up your evenings with their free Summer Concert Series. It's a buffet of auditory delights that’s been laid out at Veterans' Memorial Amphitheater, 3700 Monterey Drive, and let's just say the menu of tunes is robust and the price—oh, honey—it's on the house. Gracing the stage this upcoming Saturday, July 13, from 6 – 8 p.m., is none other than country crooner Jeff Dayton, whose guitar strumming promises to lure a crowd eager to soak up some twang under the twilight.
But just before you decide to anchor yourself down with a picnic spread and settle into the grassy expanse, keep your weather app close. Nobody's a fan of their good times being rained on, figuratively or quite possibly, literally. So, if ominous clouds decide to gatecrash the party, you can speed dial 952.924.2567 to get the lowdown on whether the show will go on, according to the City's official announcement.
The hits are set to keep on coming after Dayton's gig. And it's not just your usual run-of-the-mill lineup. We’re talking a heady mix that’s going to further stir up the pot throughout the balmy season. The following acts taking to the stage include reggae ensemble Dred I Dread on July 17, the ten-piece powerhouse band known as the Power of 10 on July 24, and the hometown pride and joy, the St. Louis Park Community Band on July 31. And hey, if opera is your jam, 'Overdressed Duo: La Traviat' is ready to enchant on August 3. For a full breakdown of the series and to kinda, sorta plan your social calendar around, swing by the summer concerts webpage.
Don't think the curators of cool tunes have forgotten the sultry dance aficionados among us. Salsa Del Soul is expected to spice things up on August 7, and if constructive feedback and public adulation are what you yearn for, prove your chops at the Community Talent Show scheduled for August 14. For those in a reflective mood, Dan Israel’s Folk Festival on August 24 promises to be the perfect finale for this symphonic symposium. Each performer is carefully chosen by the City and the Rotary Club to ensure a diverse and rich musical spread. So, to quickly recap, or just to make sure you've marked your calendars right, all this sonic goodness is brought to you by the fine folks at the City of St. Louis Park in partnership with the St. Louis Park Rotary Club — and remember, it's all gratis!
