Tampa residents should prepare for a mixed bag of weather conditions as the National Weather Service reports scattered showers and thunderstorms increasing throughout the week. Today, folks in the Tampa area can expect partly sunny skies early, with a high near 93 degrees. However, things are set to change by afternoon when the chance of precipitation hits 50 percent, with new rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, and higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
The nighttime may bring some relief to earlier mugginess, with isolated showers and thunderstorms slowing down before 9pm and lows settling around 77 degrees. Despite a calm wind, the evening hours will still carry a lingering 20 percent chance of rain. A similar pattern persists into Thursday, with mostly sunny conditions giving way to scattered thunderstorms after 2pm and a heat index climbing as high as 104 degrees.
As the week progresses, the likelihood of rain intensifies. On Friday, there were "scattered showers and thunderstorms between 8am and 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm," according to the National Weather Service. With calm winds in the forecast and temperatures peaking near 94 degrees, Friday's chance of precipitation stands at 70 percent.
The weekend outlook suggests little reprieve from the cycles of sunshine and storms, as Saturday and Sunday promise a similar rhythm of weather. Days will begin mostly sunny and hot, with highs near 95 degrees, but as the afternoon approaches, the community should brace for a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. On Sunday night, "showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then scattered showers and thunderstorms between 8pm and 2am," with lows around 77 degrees, pointing to a constant presence of unpredictable weather as the weekend comes to a close, as per NWS forecast.
