An assault investigation is underway at Sibley Parkway Apartments in Mankato after an incident left a teenager with a stab wound. The Mankato Department of Public Safety reported that officers responded to the scene on July 19, where a 16-year-old male had been injured during a disturbance just before 1 a.m. According to the City of Mankato, Minnesota Government , the young man was airlifted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester to receive treatment for stab wounds to his abdomen.
The suspect, named Zion Olivera, 19, was later apprehended when officers executed a search warrant at the apartment complex. Booked into the Blue Earth County Jail, Olivera faces charges that include 2nd and 3rd-degree assault, as detailed by the City of Mankato, Minnesota Government. In the wake of the stabbing, officers have been working to piece together the events that culminated in violence.
