A tragic event unfolded yesterday as a 14-year-old boy was fatally shot in front of his own residence on the southeast side of San Antonio, according to authorities. Named Timothy Chavez, the young teen was gunned down around 11:45 p.m. on South Mittman Street near Goliad Road, as per a report by KENS 5. At the time of the incident, no eyewitnesses were present, but several reports mentioned a vehicle speeding away following the gunfire.
Finding multiple gunshot wounds to his head and upper torso, first responders pronounced Chavez dead at the scene, according to KSAT, no witnesses have been able to provide further identification of the suspect or the escape vehicle.
Timothy's death marks another count in a string of youth violence that has plagued the area. KSAT notes that this case, although bearing some similarity, remains unconnected to an incident from two weeks prior that also involved the murder of a teenage boy near his home. The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) continues its investigation, hoping to unearth clues that bring the perpetrator to justice. As of now, the SAPD has not taken any suspect into custody, and the search for the individual responsible extends with urgency.
