After an intensive bout of investigative work, Riverside County Sheriff's deputies have nabbed a man linked to a spate of commercial burglaries. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Joseph Roybal of Temecula, was known for a distinct modus operandi stretching through Temecula and its outskirts. The Southwest Sheriff’s Station’s Robbery/Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) had been on his trail since June when patterns began to emerge, pinpointing Roybal as a key figure.
It wasn't just a stroke of luck that led to the suspect's July 19 arrest. Roybal made an attempt to outrun deputies before being caught with purloined goods in hand. A subsequent search of his silver 2021 Honda Clarity and residence on Wisteria Loop uncovered a trove of materials connecting him to the crimes, as noted in the official sheriff's department release.
With the evidence stacking up, Roybal faced the full weight of the law with booking at the Cois Byrd Detention Center. His bail is set at a hefty $100,000, underlining the seriousness of the 13 counts of burglary, possession of burglary tools, and an additional arrest warrant for possession of stolen property.
Investigators believe Roybal's list of offenses might grow as they delve deeper. The sheriff's department is calling on anyone with further information to step forward and assist. Investigator Mills, a lead on the RBST team, can be contacted at (951) 696-3000.
