A man from Floresville, Texas, has been handed a 30-year prison sentence for sexually exploiting a child at a home daycare. Rodney Allan Felux, age 45, was convicted of assaulting a seven-year-old girl who was entrusted to the residential daycare's care in December 2022, an abuse that remained concealed until the young child confided in her mother, initiating an investigation.
A federal court decreed that, following his January arrest and subsequent guilty plea earlier this year, Felux will spend a significant span behind bars and live under a lifetime of supervised release, according to a report by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Texas. As the weight of the judicial system came to bear, Felux was also ordered to pay restitution amounting to $50,000, funds that serve as a small gesture of recompense to the victim of his calculated and depraved actions. The victim had detailed the assault in a forensic interview, recounting how she was blindfolded and taken to a shed where Felux proceeded to create sexually explicit images of her.
U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza conveyed the severity of Felux's actions and the consequent strict sentencing remarking, "This defendant has caused irreparable harm to this young girl based on his contemplated, planned and acted upon predatory sexual behavior." Special Agent in Charge Aaron Tapp of the FBI's San Antonio Field Office added, "This sentencing sends a clear message that we will not tolerate the sexual abuse and exploitation of children in our community," signaling the united stand of law enforcement against the sexual victimization of minors.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Tracy Thompson carried out the prosecution of the case which falls under Project Safe Childhood, a national movement seeking to eradicate the epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
