A violent outbreak shattered the night in Downtown Seattle on Independence Day when three individuals were victims of a shooting incident. The event occurred at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Pike Street shortly after the culmination of the day’s festivities. Detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) are now piecing together the details amid an ongoing investigation, according to the Seattle Police Department.
Reports of the shooting reached police at precisely 11:01 p.m. and officers rushed to the scene, providing critical medical aid to two males with gunshot wounds. The aftermath saw the 35-year-old male, who suffered multiple gunshots, and another man, caught in the crossfire as an uninvolved bystander, hospitalized in serious condition. The suspect, described only as an adult male, escaped on foot with authorities failing to apprehend him despite a thorough search of the vicinity.
The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) promptly took over medical efforts from police once on the scene, ensuring rapid treatment and transportation to Harborview Medical Center (HMC). The area where the violence occurred was swiftly cordoned off, allowing GVRU detectives to collect evidence, which included multiple shell casings.
Adding to the narrative, a third male, aged 31, reported to police the next morning that he too had been shot at the same locus of the previous night's tragedy. This victim was treated on scene by the SFD and subsequently taken to HMC, fortunately in stable condition.
While the motives and the complete sequence of events remain obscured, GVRU continues to encourage community cooperation.
