Three men found themselves entangled in the justice system's web after a routine traffic stop in North Versailles turned into a significant drug bust. Alcedo Espinal, 48, and Yasser Collado Feliz, 34, both hailing from Florida, along with Guillermo Hernandez, 48, from New York, are facing serious charges including possession, possession with intent to deliver, and conspiracy, as reported by CBS News Pittsburgh.
Detectives from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, having developed information on a "significant" stash of cocaine allegedly on the move inside a white SUV, tracked down the vehicle. The SUV committed a traffic violation, which led to the vehicle being pulled over and the beginning of the unraveling of this narcotics narrative, according to WPXI.
The law enforcement presence seemed to induce a visible anxiety among the driver and passengers. Providing consent for an exterior inspection of their SUV, a K-9 unit was brought onto the scene. Chase, the K-9 in question, indicated that narcotics were present within the vehicle, prompting detectives to seek a further intrusion into the privacy of the SUV's contents.
Upon the men inside the SUV denying consent to inspect its interiors, they found themselves detained after the discovery that none of the occupants had a valid driver's license to present. A search warrant later unearthed 15 separate kilogram-sized packages of suspected cocaine and a bag filled with what appeared to be drug paraphernalia and packaging materials, a haul that speaks to the shadows lurking in the undercurrents of our daily commutes.
All in all, the three men were taken to Allegheny County Jail for arraignment, where they presently await the next steps in the legal process that will determine their fates, as cited by WPXI.
