In a collaborative effort between local law enforcement agencies, two additional suspects have been apprehended in connection with a series of violent crimes, including an armed robbery and a carjacking that terrorized the communities of Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office, as detailed in a press release, announced the arrest of Garrett Rivera and Paul Garcia Nava III, following the execution of arrest and residential warrants related to the June 3 incidents.

In the armed robbery, victims were confronted and robbed at gunpoint on Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage, while the subsequent carjacking saw the victim assaulted and their vehicle stolen in Palm Desert. Pursuing the criminal trail, officers used the victim's cell phone, left in the stolen car, to track the suspects to an Indio address, which resulted in a chase but the driver managed to escape. However, Vincent Caballero and David Bustos were soon captured at a residence in Bradley Way, "During the service of a residential search warrant, an unregistered assault rifle, two handguns containing high-capacity magazines, and property belonging to the victims were located," police said.

Caballero is facing multiple charges including robbery, carjacking, and assault with a deadly weapon. Bustos, previously convicted, faces charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. Both suspects have been booked at the John Benoit Detention Center. In a statement obtained by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, the collaboration of the Palm Springs Police Department, the District Attorney's Gang Impact Team, and the United States Marshal's Service was integral to the resolution of these cases.

As these individuals now prepare for their day in court, the authorities are still seeking any additional information to help further the investigation. "Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Investigator Hickok at 760–836–1600," the authorities stated.
