Two teens have been arrested and are now facing murder charges in connection to a tragic incident that claimed the life of an 80-year-old woman, who was fatally struck by a stray bullet as she passed by a downtown San Antonio street in a car, following a high school graduation she had attended at the Alamodome, as reported by KSAT.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus detailed the events leading to the death of Heidi Silkworth, who was visiting from the Dallas area, explaining how the suspects, 19-year-old Jacob Rios and a 16-year-old juvenile whose name has not been released, were allegedly involved in an aggravated robbery when the victim of the robbery, who was armed began shooting toward the suspects, with the suspects returning fire while trying to flee the scene, it was amidst this chaos that Ms. Silkworth was struck and killed, according to a statement made in a press conference captured by Express News.

Both suspects were apprehended on Saturday night on the South Side of San Antonio and they may face additional charges as the investigation continues, according to KSAT. The arrest operation by SAPD's Street Crime Unit and Covert Unit led to the capture of Rios and the 16-year-old juvenile without incident.

Chief McManus expressed his hope for the family's peace in light of the arrests, saying "We know these arrests will not bring her back, but we hope it gives (the family) peace at least," acknowledging the irreplaceable loss endured by the Silkworth family, as he addressed the community concerned about rising acts of violence and the tragic, untimely casualties that come in their wake, as per Express News.
