
A tragic accident in Montgomery County resulted in serious injuries to a two-year-old child, including the loss of an arm, following a large tree branch fall. The incident occurred Saturday evening on the 7900 block of Chandler Road in Cheltenham Township. FOX 29 reported that the branch fell approximately 50 feet and critically injured the child around 6 p.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, first responders discovered the young victim with their arm amputated due to the impact. The child had been playing in a driveway with other children during what was a birthday party. A report by 6abc mentions the toddler was quickly flown to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment of their injuries.
After providing emergency care at the scene, the child was transported to the hospital. Cheltenham Township Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident and currently believe it to be non-intentional, according to NBC Philadelphia. Nonetheless, the investigation remains active to determine the full scope of the incident.
Detailing the scene, authorities confirmed that the victim was attending a birthday party when the tree branch came crashing down. The condition of the child has not been publicly disclosed as of yet.
