Authorities Seek Public Help to Solve '96 Disappearances & Murder MysteriesSource: X/Washington County Sheriff’s Office (Oregon)

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is piecing together two decades-unsolved case of a missing man and the murder of another—asking the public to come forward with any pertinent information. The cases involve Paul Evers St. Claire, who vanished in 1996 under mysterious circumstances, and the homicide of David Larry Stroh, whose skeletal remains were identified over two decades later.

The tangled web weaved since 1996 has seen no conclusion, Paul St. Claire, known formerly by his birth name Lloyd Adam Buzzard, stepped into another identity, later intertwining with nefarious characters such as Robert Stroh, who went by the guise of Frank Tidwell and harbored a violent and criminal history, according to KPTV. The connection between St. Claire's disappearance and the convicted criminal extended into business dealings and personal relationships, including a female relative of Stroh, with whom St. Claire fostered a close friendship.

The scrutiny surrounding these interconnected lives increased following the indictment of David Stroh—Robert's brother—for the sexual assault of a teenage girl, after which David also vanished without a trace. Further intrigue was added by reports that St. Claire may have also been close with David Stroh’s estranged wife, information disclosed by KATU

Detectives continue their quest for answers, and lean now on the advancements in genetic genealogy which revealed the identity of the homicide victim as David Stroh in 2019, long after the remains were discovered in 1997 and 1998 in Grant County; Robert Stroh had already passed away in 2013 before this breakthrough, as recounted by iHeart's JAM'N 107.5

Anyone who may hold information is encouraged to come forward; the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is specifically urging those with knowledge to reach out to Detective Tim Miller at 503-846-2690.
