The Windsor Police have reported apprehending a wanted man after a pursuit that snaked through Sonoma County last Saturday. At approximately 12:40 a.m., a Windsor deputy, while patrolling near Westwind Boulevard and Copperhill Parkway, spotted 46-year-old Michael Fenton behind the wheel. Recognizing him from previous encounters, the deputy recalled that Fenton was wanted on a felony warrant, the nature of which included being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, according to the Town of Windsor Police Department. A stop was initiated, but Fenton resisted arrest and sped away, initiating the chase.

The pursuit continued at varying speeds, between 30 and 85 miles per hour, as it crossed into Santa Rosa. To end the chase, a deputy executed a PIT (pursuit intervention technique) at Mendocino Avenue and Steele Lane, effectively halting Fenton's Honda Accord.

Fenton attempted to flee on foot post-collision, but law enforcement officers promptly caught and detained him. The chase covered roughly 15 miles and lasted about 13 minutes. Once in custody, Fenton was booked into the Sonoma County jail. His charges include felony evading, driving against traffic, evading with disregard for safety, and resisting arrest. Based on the initial warrant, bail was set at $75,000, as detailed by the Police Department's statement.

In the aftermath, the Town of Windsor Police Department stressed the inherent dangers of vehicle pursuits. "We want to assure the public that we constantly evaluate the public’s safety with our duty to apprehend the suspect", expressed Sergeant Juan Valencia, the Public Information Officer.
