
The Winter Haven Police Department is seeking the public's help following a fatal stabbing incident on Friday involving a 26-year-old woman. As reported by ABC Action News, the tragic event occurred just before midnight in a construction area behind the old Banyon Beach motel at 1630 6th Street NW, also known as U.S. Highway 17.
The department received a distress call about a woman being attacked, and upon arrival, officers found the woman severely injured after reportedly getting into an altercation with an unidentified man. The witness at the scene, who was standing at a distance during the argument, saw the man strike the victim numerous times, and immediately after the woman began screaming that she had been stabbed, the assailant fled southbound, as detailed in the coverage by Click Orlando. The witness then sought assistance to call 9-1-1.
First responders reached the site within three minutes of the distress call and performed life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, the victim succumbed to her wounds after being taken to the hospital. The current investigation is focused on gathering information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect behind this violent crime, with authorities remaining silent on further details, including a suspect description.
