
A woman has been taken into custody by the Metropolitan Police Department, accused of retail theft in the Northwest shopping district. The arrest happened on July 24, following an incident at a store on F Street, according to a statement from the MPD.
At around 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, officials reported that the suspect entered a business and proceeded to a dressing room with several items of clothing. There, she allegedly utilized a device to remove the attached security tags before concealing the garments. The suspect attempted to leave without paying, but was detained by responding officers in a nearby location.
Latia Gundy, a 45-year-old resident of Southeast DC, was the individual arrested in connection with this case. The police charged her with Burglary Two and Theft Two, citing the detectives’ investigation and the circumstances surrounding the offense. Details surrounding the investigation and the methods used to locate Gundy have not been disclosed at this time.
