
A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Brandon Leo, who was killed last month while trying to sell a pair of headphones in Sanford. According to the Sanford Police Department, the incident occurred on the night of July 20 near West 3rd Street and Pomegranate Avenue, where Leo was found deceased in a white pickup truck that had careened into a retention pond after the shooting, as reported by ClickOrlando.
The teenager, identified as Dra’shawn Williams, was already detained on an unrelated charge when the arrest warrant was issued following the investigation into the homicide, Leo had arrived at the Sanford residence to sell the headphones and was ambushed as he sat in his vehicle the home's driveway, after which he attempted to flee, resulting in multiple gunshots before the fatal crash, according to a statement from Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith, as detailed by ClickOrlando.
According to FOX 35 Orlando, it has been suggested that the sale was arranged online and was supposed to take place at the aforementioned residence, however, Sanford Police Department Public Information Officer Bianca Gillett hinted at a potential plot against the victim, saying that the home was empty and the circumstances might indicate that this was a "set up." Gillett also mentioned the item in question was specified as a pair of Apple AirPods.
Dauntaye Alderman, a resident of the neighborhood expressed his shock to ClickOrlando, recounting the series of gunshots he heard that night, "I was just standing there enjoying myself, then all of a sudden, I hear one shot, then I hear dozens more ring out after that." Police Chief Smith described the killing as senseless and underscored the relentless efforts by investigators to apprehend the suspects involved in this tragic and cold-hearted act, as per a report from ClickOrlando.
